Submission Guidelines

Submissions can be of any genre of writing and any medium of visual art. Material must be your original work.

Subject matter need not be queer-specific and we welcome writers and artists from all backgrounds.

We highly encourage visual artists to submit work as there are fewer free, community focused avenues for sharing visual artwork. That stated, all forms will receive equal consideration.

You may submit up to:

2 – pieces of visual art

2 – pieces of poetry, not exceeding 120 lines each

2 – pieces of prose, not exceeding 5,000 words each

Send all submissions to shift.artlit[at]gmail[dot]com

Submission title should read: Artist Name; Genre (photography, poetry, non-fiction, etc); Title; Date of Work; Materials.

In the body of the email include preferred contact information and a brief bio, & your artist website if applicable.

Please attach all written work submitted as ONE document (.doc or .docx preferred). If you are a visual artist with submissions other than photography, you will need to photograph or scan your work. All images need to be 300 DPI quality at minimum, high quality jpeg or png.

If your work is accepted, we will notify you as soon as possible. It will be your responsibility to respond in a timely manner and confirm in writing that you grant us copyright permission to reproduce and distribute your work. If we do not receive a written response within the given time period, we will not publish your work.

That being said, we look forward to your submissions! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to email us.
